When the Atman reveals itself

Does having a point of view mean anything? Does having an opinion make you more knowledgeable? Does thinking in a certain way means you build up expectations about how things behave or should behave? Apart from our daily thought process that mainly revolves around "I", then there is work, home, ipods, and weekend vacations to plan for... Would it not be easier to not have a point of view or have an opinion or think in our out of the box and that relieves you from all the worldly thoughts you need to have? Envy those yogis who can easily renunciate - its easier to yourself in the egocentric values of the materialistic world.

We and our existences are non-existences. ...The worldly man imagines that a nonexistent thing possesses splendor. Oh friend, why would a wise man devote his life to the work of non-existence? - Rumi

I often wonder how an egocentric society like ours can even have an opinion about renunciation! Call me delusional, I would say the first part of the world I described (where ipods and big screen TVs) is more so untrue than the renunciated other world, would you not agree?
